3 Clean DIY Hygiene Hacks Using Apple Cider Vinegar
For the last decade, apple cider vinegar has been popular amongst YouTubers, bloggers, and influencers. Everyone seems to have a use for apple cider vinegar that doesn't involve salad dressing. I'll admit that initially, I was not crazy about apple cider vinegar. I did not understand the fuss until I tried it in my tea.
Having apple cider vinegar in the pantry all the time prompted me to try the beauty hacks I would see on Pinterest and YouTube. Safe to say I fell in love with incorporating ACV into my clean hygiene routine.
Here are three clean DIY hygiene hacks using apple cider vinegar...
Hair Cleanser / Scalp Refresher
Whenever my scalp needs to be clarified, I immediately reach for a bottle of ACV. I mix ACV and water in a spray bottle or oil nozzle bottle and apply the mixture to my scalp, and let it stay for about thirty minutes, and then I rinse it out. My scalp always feels clean and refreshed after this, considering the mixture has removed the buildup. Sometimes during my wash day, when my hair is not that dirty but I still need to deep condition it, I apply the ACV mixture on my strands, let it sit for about forty five minutes to an hour. Once I rinse it out, I can begin applying my deep conditioner. There are many naturals on social media and YouTube who choose not to use shampoo but instead use apple cider vinegar.
Facial Toner
Dealing with textured skin is not new to me; however, when I get stubborn breakouts, it drives me insane. As an adult, I do not want pimples on my face as if I am a teenager still trying to figure out an appropriate skincare routine. I noticed that when I mix apple cider vinegar with water and apply it to a cotton ball, then use it as a toner after washing my face, it keeps the pimples away. When I make an ACV facial toner, I find that when I use more ACV than water, it works better for my skin. This may not work for someone who has really sensitive skin; you may have to dilute the ACV mixture with more water. I do not incorporate this DIY toner into my everyday routine; nonetheless, I do use it when I notice I am having flare-ups and need to get rid of them quickly.
Feminine Care
Whether or not to use ACV as a feminine wash is up for debate; there are content creators who rely on it, and there are some who are against it. However, using ACV in bath water is a go-to for me. A number of women use ACV diluted with water as a vulva rinse. For some women, this has been effective, while there are medical sites that advise against this. I have tried this and I have not had any trouble. With that being said, try it at your own risk. One thing I would not recommend is applying ACV to a tampon and inserting it. Please note that, if you need medical care for your yoni, you should contact a doctor.
