DIY Yogurt Protein Hair Mask For Healthy Hair


Since starting my healthy hair journey almost ten years ago, I have been doing everything possible to retain length and keep my curls thriving. Protein treatments are essential in any natural's hair care journey, but especially mine since I have high porosity hair. When I first started doing DIY protein treatments, I used mayonnaise.  

One day, I was out of mayonnaise and I only had plain yogurt in my refrigerator. I used the yogurt in my hair mask mixture, and when I rinsed the mask out, I noticed my curls formed nicely and my hair was extremely soft. The next time I made the mask, I used plain Greek yogurt, and my hair responded well to it.

For someone who is trying to hydrate their hair, they should use plain Greek yogurt. If you are trying to add protein to your hair, you should use plain Greek yogurt.

Here Is How to Make a DIY Protein Hair Mask for Healthy Hair...

- First, add yogurt to a bowl (regular or Greek).
- Next, add in honey.
- Then add in one egg.
- Finally, add in the oil of your choice. ( My favorite is grapeseed oil when I have it.)
- Refrigerate the mask until it is cool.
- Apply the mask to your hair and leave it on for 30 to 45 minutes.
- When you rinse out the hair mask, be sure not to use hot water, or you will cook the egg.
