How To Successfully Work From Home When You Are A Procrastinator

Eliminate Distractions

When you work from home, it is so easy to be distracted by any and everything. Surely if you want to get any work done, you need to turn off the TV and put your phone on Do Not Disturb. You also have to let the people in your life know that just because you work from home does not mean you are available for them at all times.

 Establish Work Hours

It can be hard to stay focused or be motivated when you work alone at home. Let's face it, there are certain hours of the day when you are at your best, and during other hours, you are lazy or just simply too tired. In the morning, you might work really well, or in the evening, closer to nighttime, you might work well. You have to decide what your work hours will be. Once you decide what those hours are, then you should only get your work done in those hours, nothing else. If you want to continue working past those hours, then that's great!

Schedule Breaks

big problem I had when I first started working from home was taking too many breaks to eat snacks and watch TV or YouTube videos. I learned to treat my work hours as if I were at a desk job, so I would schedule 15-20 minute rest/snack breaks and a lunch break. Ultimately, it helped me get more done because I was no longer procrastinating or being distracted.

Write A Task List

Sometimes it can be hard to have a productive day if you do not know where to start. I think it is a good idea to write out the night before everything you want to get done for your next workday. If you make a task list, you know what your focus is for that day, and you do not stray from it or have days where you are doing busy work versus actually getting your real work done.

Record Your Productivity

You work for yourself, so you have to make sure you are getting as much work done as possible because your coins are depending on it. Every day after you are done with the work hours that you establish for yourself, you should track your progress. Make a note of it so you know how much you got done each day, and it will help you reflect on how productive you were or if you need to pick up the pace.
