All About UTIs...
A UTI is a Urinary Tract Infection. If you have ever had a UTI then you know how annoying they are and you know you never want one again. Imagine having recurring UTIs…I know the thought is scary and makes you a little sad. Well, this is a reality for some women. There are some women who have had more than a few UTIs and do not know why? Do you know more than half of all women will experience having a UTI in their lifetime? So it is pretty common and here’s how they happen…
Not Peeing After Intercourse
After you have intercourse do not just lay there, get up and pee. Peeing after intercourse flushes the bacteria out of your urethra. If you do not pee that bacteria stays and the possibility of you getting a UTI is very high.
Holding Your Pee
Holding your pee is not a good thing. When you feel the need to go, go as soon as you can. When you hold your pee for long periods of time bacteria will start to build up. You should already know by now bacteria can cause a UTI.
Medication
If you have been prescribed antibiotics from the doctor’s office they can cause you to get a UTI. Antibiotics can change the bacteria within your vagina and that bacteria can lead to a UTI.
Wiping Incorrectly
Unfortunately, some women still do not understand the proper way to wipe themselves. You are supposed to wipe front to back, not back to front. Wiping incorrectly will introduce bacteria where you do not want it and of course, you know bacteria is the cause for a UTI.
Hygiene
Not cleaning yourself often or incorrectly can cause a UTI, once again because of bacteria. Be mindful of the way you wash down there and the kind of products you use down there because they may be doing more bad than good.
*Drinking plenty of water and taking cranberry supplements may aid in the prevention of you getting a UTI. Should you get a UTI, act quickly and contact your doctor before it becomes more serious.
